| JULES SOUND was founded in the early 90’s by Julian Ellingworth who has considerable experience in film and tv mixing. His personal sound history extends back into the era of films such as "Picnic At Hanging Rock", "My Brilliant Career", "Sunday Too Far Away", and an array of Australian films during the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. These films grounded his techniques as a sound fx mixer and later he was the principal mixer on many films during the 10BA period including "Travelling North" and the Aust. Film Institute best sound award winner in 1985 "Rebel". The tv series "A Town Like Alice" was an early success as was more recently "The Great Wall Of Iron", "Sharks Of Steel", and "The Space Shuttle". The very successful tv series "BEYOND 2000" gave Julian 8 years work and the onset of digital workstations gave him the opportunity to embrace the Fairlight system and indeed realise his ambition to own and operate his own studio. As is often the case this started off as a home studio and quickly expanded out into premises which now consist of three Fairlight rooms. Since setting up the current facility the main work flow has been tv series for local as well as international release. One feature film "15Amore" was completed and received numerous Festival awards. "The Liners", "Battleships", "Australians At War", were all mixed and tracked at Jules Sound as were 26 x 1 hour animated classics for Burbank Animation Studios. Other animation series includes 26 half hours of "Gloria’s House" and the local live action sitcom "Flat Chat". Jules believes the personal approach to sound design and the tracklay of sound fx now proves a most efficient and rewarding way of completing the sound mix by the one operator who can effectively present the elements without any surprises at the final mix, allowing the client to better assimilate themselves into the audioscape and actually enjoy the experience of building their soundtrack without too much emphasis on the small details of technical finessing previously encountered by mixers working with somebody else’s tracklay. |
